the ingame part of the game isn't rendering properly for me (intro scene works fine and menu looks good). Any clue what the issue might be? (I'm using a Windows 7 machine)

I have a lot of issues with old Illusion games too, it was one of the first games I have added on HSuki and at that time, I had a computer with Windows 7 (no VM), it ran with no major issue then.
With a VM (specially VirtualBox), there is a some issue graphics wise, I think it would be better with VMware. I'm working on a new w7 Virtual Machine for VMware. I will check with that one if that helps.

it would definitely help. Direct 3D HAL just doesn't work and I've tried numerous things, including deleting the current graphics card driver (which definitely does cause an issue with at least one older game) and some dgVoodoo wrapper. RGB obviously works but considering it runs the game at around half a frame per second, it is useless (especially because it doesn't register mouse clicks most of the time).

I have added several Virtual Machines today (VMware).
After a few minutes of test, here is my results:

- Windows 7 / XP

• Direct 3D Hal (some graphics glitches, otherwise it seems ok).
• RGB Emulation (Render ok, seems good)

- Windows XP

• Direct 3D Hal (no texture for some models)
• RGB Emulation (Render Ok)
